Sindh proposes promotions on 'average marking' basis

The top committee of Sindh education proposed a plan on Tuesday regarding the postponement or cancellation of the matriculation and intermediate examination as the number of COVID-19 patients is peaking in the country.

In a meeting, Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC) – a forum of seven education boards of Sindh and the Board of Technical Education Karachi participated.

The joint meeting decided that incase of the postponement or cancellation of examinations the exam duration of examination can be altered to one hour or one hour and a half. The MCQs based exam idea was also suggested in a meeting.

The meeting further decided that in case of cancellation or postponement, students of grade 9th and 11th will be given average marks to promote in 10th and 12th grades. Whereas, five percent of grace marks will also be given to the students.

The committee agreed that in the given situation, holding examination with 500 to 1000 students appearing at one examination center is not possible.
