Sindh has updated the passing marks, this time for teachers
In the Teacher Recruiting Policy 2021 recruitment tests, the Sindh government has decided to lower the minimum passing requirement for teachers.
The measure is part of the provincial government's endeavour to resume academic activities in more than 4,200 schools across the province by addressing teacher shortage.
The minimal passing score has been reduced to 40%, according to the sources. Previously, the minimal passing score for Muslim male candidates was 55%, while Muslim female and minority candidates needed 40%.
In addition, the provincial administration has opted to organise teacher recruitment tests at the Taluka level rather than the former Union Council level.
It is worth noting that the province currently has approximately 54,000 teaching vacancies. 36,000 primary school teachers (PSTs) and 18,000 junior elementary school teachers (JESTs) are among the 54,000 unfilled positions.
More than 6,700 schools were shut down until recently owing to a teacher shortage. The Sindh government has hired thousands of teachers and reopened 2,500 schools to students.
