Punjab govt provides detailed SOPs for schools
The government of Punjab has provided detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) to open the schools.
Children are advised to keep an interpersonal distance of six feet during school activities. Floor marking should be used for social distancing.
In classrooms, the seating arrangement should be changed according to the specified distance. If the desks are fixed, seats should be labeled with distance, and the students should be instructed not to amend the allocated seats.
Social distancing should be applied at the time of entry and exit. Big schools can use more than one entry/exit points to ensure physical distancing.
Schools that don't have more than one gate for each class should reschedule opening and closing hours to avoid crowding.
Morning assemblies should be avoided, indoor games, swings, and slides should be closed.
Play Group, Kindergarten, Nursery classes involving younger kids, play areas, toys, etc., should be avoided.
Teachers are advised to give lectures from a safe distance. During the class, they should also ensure the physical gap between students.
School vans/busses/rickshaws should strictly adhere to occupancy of 50%. School administrators have to maintain the spirit of implementation.
Also, the occupancy of boarding schools will be limited to 30% as long as the country's virus situation remains. There should be daily disinfection of the offices, toilets, libraries, and dining halls. Communal television rooms, indoor games, and events that could violate the distancing protocol should be banned.
