Punjab Bans YouTube in Schools
Punjab's School Education Department (SED) has banned teachers from using YouTube. The development comes after SED received complaints about some teachers running YouTube channels.
The SED says teachers cannot run non-educational YouTube channels. Teachers who violate the law will face severe disciplinary action.
Due to the unrestricted use of social media, particularly YouTube, teachers' attention has been diverted. Rather than teaching students, they should impart knowledge to them.
In October last year, Punjab's Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) Colleges banned government college employees from using social networking platforms and speaking with the media.
Teachers and principals of public colleges are prohibited from using social media platforms, according to the Punjab Government Service Rules (PGSR). In addition, the DPI warned that disciplinary action would be taken against employees found guilty of violating the PGSR.
