Playkids acquired by Sandbox to expand E-learning globally

Brazilian edtech startup PlayKids is one of the most significant edtech firms in the market with over 4 million monthly users, which has raised over $15 million in funding. It has a global reach of more than 130 countries and the platform is being used in more than 190,000 households in nations such as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Mexico, and the United States.

Playkids is now acquired by a London-based millennial education firm Sandbox to expand and offer its products and reach in Latin America.

"Movile's mission is to help top enterprises improve the world by assisting them in solving problems and accelerating their growth. In the previous several years, we've grown PlayKids from a little app with a few thousand users to a globally known children's education platform. The combination of the two organizations will produce compelling educational experiences and increase learning around the world, thanks to Sandbox's exceptional talent, know-how, and entrepreneurial grit. We're excited to continue our journey with Sandbox." Said strategy and M&A Director at Movile, Silvia Motta.

Playkids and its Leiturinha children's book club will now be a part of Sandbox's portfolio of over 17 brands, reaching over 60 million children, families, and teachers each month. Sandbox aims to make learning more exciting and engaging for youngsters by merging the worlds of technology, learning, and media together, bringing education into this modern era.
