Peshawar High Court accepts petition asking MDCAT results to be declared illegal
Peshawar High Court (PHC) has accepted a case against Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) for conducting Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) without legal insurance.
The petitioner demanded that the practice should be declared illegal and stopped at once.
A two-judge bench including Justice Abdul Shakoor and Justice Syed Arshid Ali heard the case. Advocate Adnan Haider Yousafzai and Advocate Amir Akhtar signified the students in the court.

During the hearing, the counsel informed the court that PMC conducts entry tests for medical colleges and universities through a private testing agency. They clarified the court of the disagreements in the testing process last year and how the students who passed the opening exams were failed when the final results were out.
The lawyers commanded at the order of their clients that MDCAT should be held on the same day for all medical colleges under section 18 of the PMC Act. The guidelines also requested the court to state the previous results as insignificant and invalid.
After hearing initial opinions, the court authorized the petition for hearing and required a thorough response from the PMC within three days. The case was postponed till 1 October.
