IBCC to digitize records under Shafqat Mehmood’s order

Islamabad: The Inter-Board Committee of Chairs (IBCC) granted the go-ahead to digitize the archives of all the boards to enhance the attestation of records.

According to the IBCC, steps have been taken to improve the software mechanism to promote attestation and equivalence for the general public.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood ordered the education authorities to digitize the documents following a meeting between IBCC Secretary Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah and the National Information Technology Board (NITB) in the Federal Capital.

A follow-up meeting of the Chairmen of the Review Bodies was also held in which it was decided to create a central database for all Pakistani Review Boards at IBCC Islamabad.

The process of digitization will be introduced in stages. As a pilot step, FBISE Islamabad, BISE Lahore, BISE Peshawar, BISE Quetta, and BISE Karachi will link their data to the central repository.

In the next step, in coordination with the IBCC, the NITB will facilitate digitizing the current manual data of all the boards.

It was decided that the National IT Board would supply the secretariat of the IBCC and its regional offices with e-office facilities to simplify all internal processes. Subsequently, board details will be merged with the IBCC's validation and equivalence e-portals to turn the current hybrid system into full automation.

The NITB will also help develop software and create an IBCC Secretariat of Central Banks of Query Items for all examination boards to help move the appraisal from rote learning to the idea learning framework.
