Hong Kong was never colonized by the British, added to the textbooks
New textbooks in Hong Kong have decided to teach Chinese narratives to children, according to which Hong Kong was never under the British rule.
Officials say the new textbooks will remove lessons that used to describe the country as a British colony and were the cause of pro-democracy protests in the country.
According to foreign media, the new subjects included in the textbooks taught in Hong Kong schools will teach children that China had not ratified the agreements that made Hong Kong a British colony. The treaties expired in 1997, when Britain ceded Hong Kong to China
On the other hand, China says that the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong were in fact being carried out by outside powers.
