HEC gives universities an option to call-off semester
Higher Education Commission is forced to ask universities to either switch online or call off the semester due to prevailing uncertainty amid coronavirus in the country.
The HEC in its detailed report available on its portal has published a thorough analysis of the situation and presented the guidelines.
“If lockdown restrictions are lifted by early June, universities can return to business as usual. But if there are further delays, there will be no choice except either to switch to online education or to abandon the semester,” said HEC Chairman Dr. Tariq Banuri.
He further said that HEC has come up with the solutions and the policy which aims to support the government in its efforts to stop the spread of the virus and overcome the academic loss.
“Fortunately, online interaction provides a vehicle for doing so. Accordingly, HEC has asked universities to prepare themselves to transition to online classes and online interaction as quickly as possible,” he added.
