Education top priority for Waziristan, says PM Shehbaz Sharif
On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited North Waziristan and claimed that all types of terrorist organisations had been removed from the area thanks to the efforts of Pakistan's armed forces, which were backed by the people.
He announced the establishment of a university and a medical college in the area, as well as plans to expand the Punjab government's Danish School system to the militancy-hit territory.
Following his visit to North Waziristan, the premier tweeted, "The people of North Waziristan have suffered long enough at the hands of terrorists." In addition, he announced the creation of a "new university, Danish school system, and a medical college," as well as the expansion of a mobile health centre.
The premier met with tribal chiefs to discuss their issues during his visit. The Prime Minister's Office tweeted, "The tribal elders welcomed the prime minister and congratulated him for his first visit to the area, which indicates his care and concern for the tribal districts."
"We have been successful in fighting all forms of terrorist organisations and demolishing their infrastructure thanks to the courageous efforts of our armed forces, completely supported by the population," the PM said during a briefing during his visit hoping for educational growth of the area.
