EdTech startup PlanetSpark plans to hire over 10,000 English teachers in 2022

PlanetSpark is a K-12 player in the communication skills learning area; it was created in 2017 by XLRI alumni and hostel roommates Malik and Dhooper, who both have more than a decade of experience in the growth and scale-up of companies including Unilever, UrbanClap, and Novartis. So far, the edtech business has raised $17.2 million in investment.

The company already has over 2,100 professors and is now on the lookout for 10,000+ English teachers this year. The company's newly hired 10,000 teachers will help it enhance its footprint in India, the United States, and the Middle East, as well as expand into new countries including Europe and Southeast Asia.

"There are an estimated 1.8 million potential English teachers in India." Every year, around 4,00,000 new individuals enter the pool as English, communication, and B.Ed graduates. According to Kunal Malik, co-founder of PlanetSpark, "this presents a unique demographic advantage to develop a worldwide communication skills market leader from India."

Teachers can use the edtech firm's platform to teach international students from the comfort of their own homes, and they can choose any convenient time window during the day because the company caters to students from many time zones.

"The remote working revolution also had a significant impact on the teaching profession. We're seeing a trend where virtual education is becoming a legitimate vocation. "A substantial number of top-notch teachers have accepted online teaching and do not wish to return to traditional offline classroom instruction," said Maneesh Dhooper, co-founder of PlanetSpark.
