Early summer break demanded by parents & students in Islamabad
Students and parents have demanded an early summer holiday from the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) as Islamabad continues to blister due to high heat.
Students have also suggested that FDE should hold online classes until the start of Islamabad's summer vacations, which typically begin from early June to mid-August.
Parents showed their concern about the safety of their young children due to the current hot weather, despite doctors' advice to stay hydrated throughout the heat wave.
However, keeping school-aged children well hydrated during the school day is incredibly tough. As a result, they added, the odds of their suffering from heatstroke are extremely high.
Punjab's School Education Department (SED) and Higher Education Department (HED) both rejected similar student and parent petitions last week on Friday. Summer holidays in schools and universities will not begin before June 1, according to both departments.
However, when a young student died from heatstroke in Faisalabad, leading the state health authorities to issue a heatwave notice for schools and colleges.
