CM Bizenjo launches education support plan for Balochistan

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo has stated that the coalition government's top objective is to remove educational backwardness and promote quality education in

the province. He was addressing during the opening of the Balochistan Education Support 2 programme, which would spend Rs4 billion over five years to boost the province's educational standards.

Ellen van Kumthout, the UNICEF Chief of Education, Ovidio Mac, the EU Head of Cooperation in Pakistan, and the secondary education secretary all spoke at the event.

"In Balochistan, the government has lately changed," he explained. "We must work in the fields of education and health." Stated Mr bizenjo

Mr Bizenjo stated that no country can develop without education.

"In Balochistan, schoolchildren are still sitting on sacks," the chief minister remarked. "Teachers have established a habit of missing school and are not prepared to serve in the province's outlying areas."

Palwasha Jalalzai, a Unicef Education Specialist, provided the participants an overview of the programme. She stated that numerous reforms would be implemented in 20 districts across the province over the next five years as part of the programme.

The five-year plan included the construction of 3,000 schools, the installation of hundreds of Accelerated Learning Program centres, and teacher training, she said.
