Beaconhouse’s ‘School of Tomorrow’ Event Raises Animal Welfare Concerns

The Beaconhouse Group, one of Pakistan's largest networks of private educational institutions, launched its 15th edition of the 'School of Tomorrow' (SOT) Event series from Friday 4th November to Sunday 6th November in Lahore, celebrating 47 years of existence.

Over 150 global and local thought leaders from a range of sectors, including education, development, healthcare, technology, and digital media participated in the event, themed ‘Guardians of the Future’ for insightful panel discussions on various topics relevant to youth and varying factors affecting the general public.

Over 40 sessions were offered during SOT's first on-ground conference in four years on topics such as education, global economics, climate change, and technology.

According to news-site ProPakistani, among the distinguished guests at these discussions were best-selling author Jeffrey Archer, LUMS School of Education Dean Dr. Faisal Bari, Professor, Harvard Graduate School of Education, Ron Berger, Sean Covey, and the President of Franklin Covey Education, Dr. Faisal Bari. Also present were Walled City Lahore Director General Kamran Lashari; educationist and human rights activist, Syeda Arfa Zehra; and celebrities such as Shae Gill, Ali Xeeshan, and Hasan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY).

Founder of Justice for Kiki (JFK) Animal Rescue and Shelter, Zufishan Anushay is the founder of Punjab's biggest rescue service for animals, where it keeps and rehabilitates injured and abused animals.

In her talk, Anushay shared a story about her dog, Kiki, who was brutally killed by a culling squad in Lahore several years ago. Her experience inspired her to work for animal welfare.

She advocates unconditional love for all animals, particularly defenseless street animals. Due to Pakistan's alarmingly high rate of donkey abuse, she also highlighted the plight of donkeys in the country.

Additionally, she spoke with the students at the event and explained to them how simple it is to take care of animals, and encouraged them to pledge to do so wherever they are.

Founded in 2013, School of Tomorrow (SOT) aims to redefine the education system in Pakistan. All SOT events promote a culture of professional growth, self-reflection, and innovation as a way to preserve its history and excel in the future.
