12 acting VCs running varsities in Sindh
Sindh's higher education system is ad hoc, with another interim vice chancellor appointed in a Sindh institution on Monday, raising the province's total number of acting vice chancellors to 12.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Madad Ali Shah was not offered a second term after his first term ended. Dr. Noor Ahmed Sheikh, Director, Computer Institute of Sindh University, has been given the role of Vice Chancellor, according to Kamal Ahmed, Section Officer, Department of Boards and Universities.
There is currently no permanent vice chancellor at Sindh University Karachi, Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Dawood Engineering University, Lyari University, Animal University Sakrand, Larkana Medical University, Mehran Engineering University, Shaheed Allah Bakhsh University Jamshoro, IBA Sukkur, Women's University Sukkur, Aror University Sukkur, or University of Technology Khairpur.
Despite being selected by the search committee for several months, five boards of education in Sindh, including the Sindh Board of Technical Education, Hyderabad Board of Education, Mirpur Khas Education Board, Sukkur Board of Education, and Nawabshah Board of Education, have no permanent chairman.
