KARACHI: On Sunday, 'Sindh Culture Day' was celebrated in Karachi, as it was in other areas of the province, with this year's motto of Ilm Pirayo, Sindh Sanwaro (promote education, foster Sindh).

Rallies were held in several parts of the city by people dressed in traditional Sindhi attire.

The major event, which was organised by various Sindhi TV networks and took place outside the Karachi Press Club.

Where prominent singers Ahmed Mughal, Tufail Sanjrani, Taj Mastani, Shehla Gul, and others exhibited their performance, singing songs reflecting longing for Sindh, tens of thousands of people, predominantly youths, women, and children, chanted and danced.

On this occasion, Qaumi Awami Tehreek chief Ayaz Latif Palijo said that singing, dancing, and wearing traditional Sindhi dresses were all positive points, but it was more important to keep in mind why excellent civilisations like Greece, Rome, and Egypt declined, and why Red Indians in America and Australian Aborigines vanished.

"These cultures and societies were eclipsed because they did not adapt as time passed and did not seek knowledge, technology, or science," Mr Palijo remarked.

In response to the recent tragic episode in Sialkot, he stated the lynching of a Sri Lankan man by a mob on blasphemy charges posed a threat to everyone and encouraged people to "build a wall against this extremism."
