Saudi Arabia prohibits women from wearing abayas in exam halls

Saudi Arabia has prohibited female students from wearing abayas in examination centers. Saudi Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) officials told Gulf News female students cannot wear abayas during exams.

In accordance with ETEC standards, female students must wear school uniforms inside examination halls, with school uniforms made in accordance with effective codes of public decency.

Together with the Ministry of Education, the Education Evaluation Commission plans Saudi Arabia's education and training systems.

In 2019, the Saudi government abolished the mandatory requirement of wearing an abaya for foreign female tourists while announcing tourist visas for the first time.
