HEC Announces Phase 3 of PM’s Electric Wheelchair Program

Under phase III of the Prime Minister's (PM) Electric Wheelchair Scheme for University Students, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) will provide electric wheelchairs to disabled university students.

The scheme has been announced under the initiative "Inclusive Development-Leaving No One Behind," according to HEC sources.

According to sources, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) is inviting applications from students with ambulatory disabilities (differently-abled), who are enrolled/being enrolled in public sector universities and affiliated colleges for undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs during the Fall Semester of 2022-23.

Eligibility Criteria

Students who qualify for electric wheelchairs include:

  • Physically and permanently unable to move due to an ambulatory disability.

  • Paralysis or loss of leg function prevents them from crossing curbs.
  • One or both legs are missing.
  • Undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students at HEC-recognized public sector universities in the fall 2022-23 term.
  • Obtain a certificate from the relevant government or competent institution verifying your special person status/ambulatory disability.
  • Have not received electric wheelchairs in previous phases.

Last Date to Apply

30th November 2022 is the deadline for applying for the electric wheelchair.

Application Process

  • Students who are eligible should register through HEC's e-portal.

  • To apply, students must submit a hard copy of the form along with the necessary documents to the Vice-Chancellor (VC)/Registrar/designated person's office.

  • By 31st December 2022, universities/affiliated colleges will forward all eligible cases to HEC at the following address (below) for distribution of wheelchairs.
