RIYADH: Dawrat, a Kuwait-based educational technology company, has announced that it has entered into Saudi Arabia.

According to Wamda, Dawrat intends to capitalise on the expanding demand for skilled labour in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) area, particularly given the increased interest among young people in entrepreneurship.

It also provides over 10,000 Arabic language courses to customers all throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

"Every GCC member, including Saudi Arabia, now has its own development strategy, thus skilled labourers are needed to implement these plans." Saudi Arabia has the quickest execution plan; therefore, it makes sense to expand there," Dawrat co-founder Mohammad Al Suraya said.

The assumption that traditional teaching and learning methods are better to online learning is another barrier to educational technology adoption.

"The primary problem we have in the region is the lack of recognition and accreditation for online learning."
