New School Monitoring System to be Introduced by KP

According to the Associated Press Pakistan (APP), the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is establishing a new monitoring system in schools across the province to boost education quality.

The new approach, according to a senior official of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department (ESED), will prevent incorrect postings. Teachers will have to teach on their actual posts.

An effective e-transfer policy had been implemented, according to the ESED official, to assure merit and transparency in transfers and postings, and now all transfers and postings are done electronically.

When it came to out-of-school children, the officer stated that a double shift programme had been implemented in order to accommodate as many out-of-school children as possible across the province.

“3,000 children were enrolled in 120 schools during the program's first phase, while over 400 more schools were chosen for the second phase, with the total number of such schools eventually reaching 1000.”

The KP government has adopted the School Bag Act, among other major steps in the education sector, so that students do not have to carry heavy school bags, according to the official.

“Students Facilitation Centers have also been constructed in all of the province's Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), where students may get all of their needs met under one roof.”

The provincial government has also signed MoUs with Coded Minds and HOPE organizations to begin the Smart Schools' Education Program in public schools.
