AIOU and British NGO have teamed up to promote female education in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and a British non-governmental organization (NGO) have teamed up to promote female education in Pakistan.

According to a press release, AIOU is rightfully privileged to have been chosen by the British NGO for this noblest cause because of its contributions to mass education in Pakistan.

In this regard, Mr William Von Schrader, Country Director, ACTED UKAID, visited AIOU and met with DGRS Inamullah Sheikh in his office. The DGRS informed him of AIOU's prominent role in advancing mass education in Pakistan.

He went on to say that AIOU is highly regarded among Pakistani females for its high-quality educational offerings, which are offered in every corner of the country.

Women make up 57% of the 1.2 million students enrolled at AIOU, reflecting their preference for AIOU over other educational institutions in the country, He added.

It is significant to note that UKAID is a direct grant holder of the British government that provides funds to promote female education in underdeveloped countries around the world. AIOU also intends to participate in ongoing UKAID projects in the Sindh province districts of Kashmore and Jackabad.

Dr. Zahid Majeed, Director of the International Collaboration and Exchange Office, organized this meeting. Dr. Zahid Majeed, DGRS, Sadaf Ashraf, and other authorities also attended the conference.
