Students wearing Hijab were barred from taking exams in Karnataka

In the 12th class examinations in the Indian state of Karnataka, 6 female students were barred from entering the examination room due to wearing hijab.

According to Indian media, 12th class examinations are being held in the state of Karnataka and the anti-Muslim Karnataka government has stopped the examination of hijab-wearing students based on the decision of the High Court.

At an examination centre in Karnataka's Yadgir district, six female students were ordered to take off their hijabs, but the students refused to do so, prompting the administration to send the girls back home.

Alia Asadi, a student who had earlier filed a petition against the ban on hijab in Odupi, Karnataka, was also barred from taking the exam along with her classmate.

A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has threatened contempt of court if the students tried to re-enter the examination centre or college wearing hijab.
