SNC Implementation Timeline Announced by Shafqat Mahmood
Shafqat Mahmood, the Federal Minister of Education, announced on Monday that from August 2022, the government will introduce the Single National Curriculum (SNC) for students in grades VI to VIII across the country.
"Last year, the uniform curriculum was adopted from grades I to V," the minister said at the opening session of the Overseas Convention in Islamabad. "This year, it will be extended from grades VI to VIII, and grade IX to XII the following year."
He stated that, under Prime Minister Imran Khan's leadership, the government has decided to introduce a uniform curriculum across the country in order to ensure that all children, regardless of their social or financial position, have equal access to a high-quality education.
"Previously, various curricula were adopted across the country, causing division," he explained.
The minister said that an agreement had been signed with Saudi Arabia for the skills development of youth, and that efforts were also being made to help overseas Pakistanis with their education.
"All provinces have begun significant teacher training, and 50,000 scholarships are awarded to female students each year," Mahmood said.
He shared his delight that many students are returning to Pakistan after completing their studies abroad and are eager to contribute to the country's growth.
