Punjab: Teachers Demanding Increased Salaries
The Punjab Teachers Union (PTU) is seeking a 50% raise in teaching and non-teaching staff compensation.
The PTU leadership told the media in Lahore on Monday that they had developed a final proposal in this respect, copies of which had been delivered to the Prime Minister, Federal Minister for Finance, and Punjab Chief Minister and Secretary Finance.
Chaudhry Sarfraz, the Central President of the PTU, said that government employees are the backbone of the system, but that they are suffering from a severe financial crisis.
Rana Liaqat, the General Secretary, claimed that government employees are famished since their pay are so low in comparison to the increasing inflation.
