New National Curriculum Approved in Pakistan

Provincial representatives from across Pakistan signed off on the National Curriculum for classes 9, 10, 11, and 12. This marked a historic milestone for the National Curriculum Council (NCC).

It is the first time in Pakistan's history that a national curriculum was created for Early Childhood Education and classes 1-12.

After the successful conclusion of the 3rd Inter Provincial Curriculum Workshop, which included finalizing the courses for all required subjects for classes 9-12, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Urdu, Islamiat, Pakistan Studies, and Computer Sciences, the new syllabus was approved.

The Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, Rana Tanveer Hussain, conducted a thorough review of the progress by visiting the NCC Secretariat and personally interviewing the official provincial/area experts for each subject on a personal basis to ensure the curriculum is tailored to the needs of all students and stakeholders.

To gather feedback from all parts of Pakistan, the NCC Secretariat conducted extensive engagements across the country, including inter-provincial workshops and regional workshops in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit Baltistan.

The NCC website also provided a feedback portal where the public could submit written comments. To ensure a collaborative approach to curriculum reform, public and private representatives, non-profit organizations, and madrassas participated in the feedback process.

This milestone in education demonstrates the NCC Secretariat's commitment to creating a transparent and inclusive learning environment that meets the needs and aspirations of all students in Pakistan. This is an important measure towards a brighter future for all children in the country.
