A meeting of the FGEJAC, presided over by Committee Chairman Fazal-e-Maula, was convened here to discuss holding a protest demonstration and staging a sit-in in front of Parliament House.

"The FGEJAC also decided to invite CDA Employees Union, traders’ community, Ulema and other traders’ unions to participate in the protest demonstration on Thursday," a statement issued by the Action Committee at the meeting said.

"Our demonstration will be peaceful and in accordance with the Constitution and legislation, and we will also inform the district administration of our preparations," Fazal e Maula said. Clause 166 of the Islamabad Capital Territory (CT) Local Government Ordinance, which placed FDE workers under the MCI, was deemed unacceptable by the meeting attendees.

Previously, on December 8, the teaching staff of educational institutions called off their week-long strike and postponed it for a month after receiving guarantees from the government that their demands would be met.
