In response to the killing of security supervisor Saqlain Bangash, the Peshawar University Teachers Association has announced the shutdown of the University of Peshawar until their demands are met.

Following Bangash's death on Sunday, the association's executive committee decidedly agreed to the move.

In a statement, Teacher's Association President Mohammad Uzair said that until their demands were met, especially launching an official inquiry into the death of the security officer, the university would remain closed.

Teachers at Peshawar University have demanded the government remove the vice chancellor, conduct a judicial investigation into the killing of Saqlain Bangash, and conduct psychological examinations of all security personnel.

The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association has announced its total support for the teachers association’s decision.

As part of the Federation’s strike announcement, all universities in the province will be on strike from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday.
