Another Ban: Lahore Says NO to Summer School
Punjab: The CEO of the District Education Authority (DEA) in Lahore, Mr. Pervaiz Akhtar Khan, has announced that there will be no summer schools or camps in Lahore this year.
Although students are rejoicing that no activities will be bringing them back to school till August 1st, the main cause for this decision is the fact that global warming is on an all-time high in Pakistan, adding to the country’s notoriously extreme temperatures .
In Lahore, due to the heat wave, Mr. Akhtar Khan has given the verdict that there will be no such activities taking place in schools, as it is directly impactful to the health and well-being of students. However, despite warning of serious action which will be taken, various private and matric institutes have made up their minds to have some sort of activities, be it camp, studies, preparations for Board Exams, etc.
The message has been sent loud and clear. Whichever institution goes against the ruling will be reprimanded and fined for misconduct. Mr. Akhtar Khan has emphasized the need for putting health first, especially with the upcoming weather situation plaguing Pakistan and Lahore in particular. During this extensive heat wave, or rather, series of heat waves, staying hydrated, safe and healthy is vital.
