So, let’s break down studying abroad in Malaysia in 4 easy steps.

Once you’ve chosen a university and are sure about the degree you wish to study, you will create an online application account on your selected university’s website. You will need to submit the electronic version of your documents along with the application. These materials include:

• Copy of valid national passport
• Two passport size photos with blue background
• Transcript of previous degrees
• English proficiency test certificate (IELTS, TOEFL)
• Letter of intent (written by the applicant stating academic and professional goals and explaining their degree choice)
• Letters of Recommendation (at least 2)
• Work experience (if applicable)
• Evidence of funds (in the form of credit card statement or bank statement proving the applicant can afford living and study expenses in Malaysia)
• Health examination form
• Evidence of application fee

Important things to be wary of are: the application fee is 100 MYR and non-refundable. You should enter a valid email address as your acceptance letter would be sent at a similar address and make sure you don’t miss out on anything in the form.

However, if you are to apply for the Student Pass yourself, you will need the following documents:

• A passport-sized photograph
• A copy of your passport
• A copy of your university offer letter
• Copies of academic certificates and transcripts
• A pre-arrival medical examination report
• Proof of insurance
• Proof that you have sufficient funds for course fees and living costs.

Generally, a Student Pass is valid for a year, so if your intended course of study is longer than 12 months, it will require renewal.
