Vice Chancellor interviews in Sindh postponed

Due to the non-inclusion of the name of a particular candidate, the interviews for vice-chancellor posts at Liaquat Medical University Jamshoro and Larkana Medical University have been postponed.

In addition to the interview letters being mailed to the candidates, the interviews were scheduled for Friday, December 9th.

Among the 13 candidates who were declared eligible are Dr. Ali Akbar Bhand, Dr. Bika Ram, Dr. Ikramuddin Ajan, Dr. Khalid Talpur, Dr. Aziz Ajan, Dr. Mehrul Nasa, Dr. Sughra, Dr. Zulfiqar Soomro, Dr. Akbar Sial, Dr. Saifullah Jamro, Dr. Safdar Ali Sheikh, Dr. Iqbal Afridi, Dr. Qurban Ali Rahu and Moin Ansari were included.

The search committee, headed by Dr. Tariq Rafi, reviewed the applications of more than 30 candidates and declared 13 candidates eligible for both universities during a meeting chaired by him.

In attendance were Secretary Board Mureed Rahman, Dr. Naushad Sheikh, Dr. Saeed Qureshi, and Special Secretary for College Education Abdul Aleem Lashari, who was transferred as Commissioner Nawabshah on December 3rd.

No Ph.D. was held by any of the members of the committee that examined the candidates for the position of Vice-Chancellor.

There is already a court hearing in Larkana Medical University's case, according to sources, and the university has been without a resident vice chancellor for two months. The Department of Boards and Universities' advertisement for vice chancellors has been challenged in the Sindh High Court.

In Azad Kashmir, Gilgit, Baltistan, and the Federation, the age limit for Vice Chancellors is 65 years, but it has been raised to 62 in Sindh.
