Twitter head leaving to start an EdTech platform
the former head of Twitter India who recently went to San Francisco to work for a different division inside the company, is leaving the company to create an edtech startup.
According to several of the investors to whom Maheshwari has pitched the new firm, he has interacted with a number of investors in recent weeks to raise financing for a new Bangalore-based edtech startup that offers to deliver MBA courses in four months. According to papers with the local regulator, Maheshwari's Bangalore house is registered as the new startup's office location.
In August of this year, the former Twitter India CEO came to the United States as senior director, Revenue Strategy and Operations, with an emphasis on "New Market Entry." His withdrawal from India came as he and Twitter faced unprecedented pressure from New Delhi in the South Asian market. Earlier this year, Maheshwari was identified in police investigations in at least two Indian states — Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh — following allegations that Twitter was hurting people's feelings in India.
