The Punjab Cabinet approves a paperless government system

Mohsin Naqvi, interim chief minister, presided over the 15th Provincial Cabinet meeting on Friday. On 15 May, the cabinet decided to eliminate the conventional filing system in every government department and establish a paperless e-filing system. In the long run, the project is expected to save billions of rupees.

It was also recognized that the Secretary of Implementation, the Chairman of the Planning & Development Board, and the Chairman of the Punjab Information Technology Board were instrumental in implementing the paperless system.

Furthermore, the cabinet has approved the distribution of laptops to students in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, making them accessible to deserving students first. In addition, Rs. 1.5 million was given to the relatives of Ichhra residents who died in vehicle accidents.

It was also conditionally cleared to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tare Zameen Per NGO Trust. By the Cabinet Standing Committee on Legal Affairs, the MoU will be reviewed and approved. A number of previous decisions were also approved by the cabinet.
