The KU Teacher Strike

University of Karachi's teaching activities have been suspended for the third time due to the pending selection board and financial problems.

Teachers are currently on strike for the third day due to pending selection boards, non-payment of salaries to evening program teachers for two years, and financial problems facing the university.

Details indicate that teaching had been suspended at University of Karachi for the third day, while representatives of various teachers' organizations, student associations, and employee delegations expressed solidarity with the Teachers' Association of KU at the staff club consultation meeting.

During the meeting, Ghafran Alam, vice president of the Teachers Association, informed the participants that such an educational and research institution as the University of Karachi is on the verge of collapse due to long-term delays in the selection board and financial difficulties.

Prior to this, all elected associations and organizations of university officers and employees participated in teachers' selection boards and financial issues.

Dr. Faizan-ul-Hassan Naqvi, a Trustee of the Teachers' Association, also commented on the seriousness of the situation and said that the lack of a selection board and a public information campaign led to the entrapment of teachers in legal matters.

Since 2004, the Teacher's Association has stood by employees and officers in their struggles over leave encashment, promotion of employees, pay fixation, and retired directors.
