Student Takes His Life After College Refuses to Issue Certificate

A talented young student who got admission into an an engineering college ended his own life after the college refused to give him a certificate due to non-payment of fees.

According to Indian media, this heart-wrenching incident took place in the city of Hyderabad in the state of Telangana, where the said student had passed the entrance examination from Shree Gayatri College with a distinction, on top of having also performed exceptionally in the engineering college test. All he had to do was submit the educational credentials.

He (the student) was from a less privileged background, and was unable to deposit his last semester fees when he went to the college to get his certificate, the management asked him to deposit the fees first.

The parents had requested that the certificate be issued as they planned to deposit the fee as soon as they were financially able. Their son was a beacon of hope for them before the tragedy occurred.

The college management rudely rejected the parents’ plea. Despite repeated requests to the college, the management did not issue the certificate and the last date for submitting the certificates to the engineering college passed.

The student was extremely disturbed by this and decided to end his own life.

Due to this bullying of private educational institutions in India, many young people commit suicide, but till now no policy has been formulated by the government and no disciplinary action has been taken against this terrible system.
