Resentment among school staff grows as FDE brings new policy

The responsible authority's new centrally controlled policy has disrupted day-to-day operations and fostered dissatisfaction among the workforce by limiting the administrative rights of educational institution leaders.

According to an official source, the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has further limited the administrative rights of educational institution heads under a new policy. The principals have been told that they may only give their employees one casual leave each month. If documentation is supplied, the staff can issue one additional casual leave in an emergency. Principals are only authorised to give their employees two casual leaves every month. In the event that there are more than two, the case will be forwarded to the appropriate Area Education Officer (AEO). In a similar manner, the procedure for allowing fee concessions for employees' children, which was formerly straightforward, has suddenly become convoluted due to the involvement of FD.

Previously, following document verification, Principals gave fee concessions to FDE and institution staff. However, FDE employees will now have to go through far lengthier procedures in order to obtain a tiny cost reduction for their children.

Previously, the FDE had set uniform timings and durations for schools and colleges, which was not a reasonable decision. Schools and colleges differ in terms of the age groupings of their pupils. Instead, colleges should adhere to the university calendar.
