Quran translation is now a part of Pakistani university curriculum

Universities across the country are now required to study the Holy Quran as a compulsory requirement for undergraduate degrees under the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

In a letter published by the HEC Advisor (Academics, Curriculum & NAHE), Muhammad Raza Chohan, he emphasized the need for universities and degree awarding institutes (DAIs) to introduce courses on the study of the Holy Quran, including translation, tajwid, and tafseer.

Additionally, the letter stated that the course would be non-credited and would not require any additional marks or credits.

From the fall semester 2023, all undergraduate students will be required to take this course.

On 16th January 2023, the Senate passed Senate Resolution No. 533. University and DAI compliance reports must also be submitted by 30th June, according to HEC.

Therefore, the Holy Quran will now be taught in Pakistani universities as part of undergraduate education in order to provide students with a deeper understanding of their faith and its values.
