Quaid-i-Azam University in 500 Most Prestigious Universities of the World List

In the British magazine Times Higher Education's ranking of the 'World's Best Universities' for 2023, Quaid-i-Azam University of Pakistan has been listed among the 500 best universities in the world.

Quaid-i-Azam University in Islamabad is ranked 401st in this ranking, while government college university Faisalabad, UMT, Abdul Wali Khan University, Bahria University, Dow University of Health Sciences, U.E. T Taxila, Hazara University Mansehra, and International Islamic University Islamabad are among the top 1000 universities.

The Indian Institute of Science ranks 251st in a global ranking of 500 universities, among five higher education institutions.

One of the largest and most diverse university rankings to date, the Times Higher Education World Ranking includes 1,799 universities from 104 countries and territories. In the top 10 list of best universities in the world, the University of Oxford takes the top spot, followed by Harvard University in the United States, University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom in the third place, and Stanford University in the fourth place.

In addition to this, the remaining 10 universities include MIT of the United States, California Institute of Technology, Princeton University, University of California, Yale University, and Imperial College of the United Kingdom.

According to Times Higher Education, the assessment is based on 13 performance indicators, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and global outlook.

The Times Higher Education has said in its assessment that American universities' dominance in research is now over. It is the result of a growing yield gap between elite and rest of the universities. Data indicates that Chinese universities are achieving better research quality than US universities, with the US's score falling from 70 to 69.4, while China's score is rising from 55.6 to 58. Chinese universities lack internationalization, which is why none of them are among the top universities, according to Times Higher Education.
