Punjab to Build 10 New Universities to Promote Higher Education

To promote higher education in the province, the Punjab government has approved the establishment of 10 new universities.

The Punjab Assembly will consider a draft bill establishing 10 new universities, according to sources. As per the procedure, each university must first be approved by the Punjab Assembly.

Infrastructure for the universities will be built by the Punjab government, while final approval for their establishment will be given by the Higher Education Commission.

A number of new universities have been proposed, including University of Taunsa, University of Leh, University of Hafizabad, Indus University Rajanpur, Baba Farid University Pakpattan, Attock, Gujranwala, Toba Tek Singh, Waqar-Nisa Women University Rawalpindi, UET Sialkot and DG Khan Women University.
