Promotion of students till class III in Sindh criticized by the All Private Schools Association

The chairman of All Private Schools Management Association Sindh, Haider Ali, objected to a notification issued on Thursday by the Sindh education department asking all educational institutions to promote students in classes’ I-III without examinations being held.

Among other decisions related to examinations and the next academic session, the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department (SE&LD) announced the promotion of students from Class I to III without having to give their annual exams.

In December 2022, Sindh's Education and Literacy Department's sub-committee and the steering committee made their decisions.

According to the circular issued by Sindh School Education and Literacy Department (SE&LD), Class IV to VIII examinations will take place after Eid-ul-Fitr and conclude by 6th May 2023.

In a notice published on Thursday by the school education department, the HSC examinations (XI and XII) will begin on May 22nd, followed by the annual examinations for classes IX and X.

Mr. Haider Ali reported that the steering committee meeting had not been held for a long time. During one meeting, the subcommittee discussed only the exam schedule and procedure for classes IX to intermediate.

A directive requiring students to complete exams up to grade XIII by May 6th was also criticized by the Chairman, who deemed it 'impractical'.

In order to make decisions about the entire academic year, he demanded that the education minister convene immediately a meeting of the steering committee.
