Preparations for the intermediate exams have been completed
Chairman Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi has said that government educational institutions owe billions of rupees besides the Board. According to the report, Chairman Higher Secondary Education Board, Karachi, Prof. Saeed-ud-Din said that preparations for the annual intermediate examinations starting from June 18 had been completed.
He said that Rs 1.25 billion is due from the Department of Boards and Universities for the fees of students of government run institutions while crores of rupees of scholarships for A-one grade students are yet to be paid.
Chairman Higher Secondary Education Board Karachi Prof. Saeed-ud-Din was addressing a press conference concerning preparations for the annual intermediate examinations starting from June 18 at Inter Board Karachi.
The Chairman Inter-Board said that the Board's revenue is only Rs. 11 crores, and its expenditure is Rs. 54 crores, due to which the Board is facing financial difficulties and the boards of education have not been involved in this matter.
The matter is now between Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput and Secretary Universities and Boards Mureed Rahimo. He said there are 200,000 students in 154 government colleges and 25,000 students in 168 private colleges in the city.
Regarding the preparation of examinations, the Chairman Board said that examination centres had been set up in 211 educational institutions for the entrance examinations.
One lac 86 thousand 49 students are giving examinations this year, out of which 45291 students in pre-engineering faculty, 47332 in post-medical, 11180 in science general and 686 candidates in home economics will sit for the exams which would be held from 9 to noon and from 2 to 5 in the afternoon.
