PMDC exempts medical & dental graduates from NLE
A consecutive decision has been taken by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to grant permanent registration certificates without requiring medical and dental graduates to undergo the National Licensing Examination (NLE).
Under the previous PMDC law, and prior to getting permanent registration, local graduates had to take and pass the NLE exam. The exam was previously conducted by doctors from Pakistan's approved medical and dental colleges, which was highly criticized by physicians throughout Pakistan.

From 8th February 2023, PMDC will issue permanent Registration Certificates to doctors who graduate from Pakistani Medical and Dental Colleges without the requirement of the National Licensing Examination (NLE).
A brand-new interactive online licensing portal has also been launched by the PMDC which simplifies and speeds up the registration process.
Approximately 10,000 local graduates are awaiting permanent registration with the PMDC, which also offers certificates and renewals.
A registration portal is reliable, and private information is securely retained at PMDC, according to the Registrar, Dr. Suleman Ahmed. Moreover, the council has implemented a secure payment system for application costs, as well as a tracking and monitoring system.
For foreign graduates, PMDC has initiated the National Registration Examination.
There will be a combination of computer-based multiple-choice questions and a practical component to the test.
In his remarks, Dr. Suleman emphasized that the PMDC welcomes proposals from the medical community, and that it is ready to address any concerns they may have.
