'Parhega Toh Barhega Khyber Pakhtunkhwa' Campaign aims to Promote Education
An enrollment campaign named "Parhega Toh Barhega Khyber Pakhtunkhwa" has been launched across the province and will continue till August 30th, with a target of enrolling 1 million children in schools this year. In this regard, a door-to-door campaign is also being conducted in order to enlist more children in schools.
The Provincial Minister for Primary & Secondary Education, Shahram Khan Tarakai, participated in the campaign taking place in Peshawar. The education minister was told that the children of one house do not go to school. He visited the house to convince the parents to enroll their children in the schools. Mr. Tarakai went to the Government Primary School, Gul Bihar No. 2, along with the two little girls Maryam and Gulalai of the aforementioned house and enrolled the girls into school.
Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Minister stated that his goal is to enroll every child who is out of school into one, while creating a favorable environment for every child in government schools.
He said that there is no reason for parents to prevent their children from going to school. In provincial government institutions, intelligent teachers have been recruited on merit and all the facilities have been provided in the schools. Clean drinking water, spacious buildings, IT labs, furniture, clean toilets, sports fields, science labs and other facilities are now available free of charge in schools.
Mr. Tarakai made it clear that more steps have been taken to further improve the education system. In last year's admission drive, the target was to enroll 800,000 children in schools, but over 900,000 were successfully enrolled. This year the goal is to get at least a million students registered. He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recently surpassed other provinces in terms of the literacy rate.
‘Education for all is the motto’ of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Education Department and the manifesto of the current party. He requested parents to enroll their children in nearby schools.
