Malala Arrives in Pakistan to Visit Flood-Affected Areas
Malala Yousufzai traveled with her parents to flood-hit areas across Sindh on Tuesday morning.
As Malala and her parents boarded Qatar Airlines flight 604, the police provided her with complete security. Strict safety measures were also used to transport her to her Karachi residence.
Malala's heavy security arrangements have been ordered directly by the Sindh Home Department according to reports.
Last month, the Malala Fund awarded an emergency relief grant to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) for the purpose of providing psychosocial support to flood-affected women from Sindh and Balochistan.
In addition, the funding will cover emergency education services for girls. Ten damaged government schools for girls will be repaired and rehabilitated with assistance from the Malala Fund.
When Malala was 15, she was shot in the face by the Taliban for refusing to waive off her right to education. She has since lived in Birmingham, where she was airlifted for treatment after the assassination attempt.
