Large numbers of Arab students are stranded in Ukraine

Agence France-Presse posted a report on Sunday that detailed the plight of over ten thousand Arab students who have been stranded in Ukraine since the Russian invasion.

The article demonstrates that Arab nations are grappling with how to repatriate students and other people. In Ukraine, certain governments do not have diplomatic representation.

Due to the ease of acquiring entry visas to Ukraine, students from various Arab nations select Ukraine to continue their university study, particularly in medical and engineering. Many people travel there to flee wars or economic disasters in their home nations.

The majority of Arab students in Ukraine are Moroccans and Egyptians.

Several families gathered outside the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs' headquarters in Rabat on Friday to express their concern about the fate of their children.

Since Ukraine's airspace has been closed, those attempting to flee must first go to a safe country nearby.

Morocco is arranging special flights from Ukraine's surrounding countries to Casablanca for a fixed fee of 750 dirhams (70 euros), according to the ministry.
