Education Minister apologizes for foul language at GCU event

The Education Minister of Pakistan, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has been severely criticized for the language he used at the graduation ceremony of Government College University (GCU) in Lahore.

The viral video shows the Minister using a Punjabi slang word in his speech. In the video, the Pakistani minister is heard telling the crowd that he once met Rana Iqrar, Vice-Chancellor of Faisalabad Agriculture University, who told him while using a slang word that despite being a member of the ruling class of the Rana tribe, he works at an agriculture college.

Netizens were appalled by the Education Minister’s language, condemning the incident on twitter. Many were disturbed by the use of language and the story itself, which they found ‘insulting’.

However, the Education Minister has apologized for his words and expressed regret for the ‘slip of tongue’.
