EdTech startup WeSkill raises over $400,000 in a pre-seed funding round
WeSkill, an EdTech startup founded in 2020 by 3 grads from IIM Ahmedabad, India. Offers live online classes in extracurricular activities like dance, music, arts, and chess. The platform aims to solve the shortage of access to skilled educators by providing children with an interesting and educational experience.
WeSkill, which is owned by JAP Edutainment Private Ltd, has collected over $400,000 (about Rs.3 Crore) from angel investors and syndicates as part of its pre-Seed round of funding, which was spearheaded by Shrishti Sahu of Swadharma Source Ventures (SSV).
The round also includes participation from few other organizations.
Shaurya Joshi, one of the founders of WeSkill said "When we launched WeSkill, we didn't expect such a strong demand from all over the country, Our courses, offered in six different languages, have consistently high NPS and retention rates from learners, indicating a worldwide demand for solutions that provide long-term learning opportunities and can be accessed from a safe environment at an appropriate time."
Other EdTech startups in India like Gurucool & NxtWave also raised from $150,000 to $2.8 million in a pre-seed round recently.
Hence, 750 out of 9,000 EdTech startups have raised about $8.5 billion to date, making India the third-largest economy to draw attention of private investors this year.
