Alvi praises GIKI's assistance to higher education promotion

Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid, Head of the Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, said on Sunday that the Institute's Chancellor, President Dr Arif Alvi, has praised the Institute's contribution and role in promoting higher education and launching modern academic disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Data Science.

According to a press release, released in Peshawar on Sunday, the head discussed the specifics of his meeting with President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr the day before. Special Secretary Waqar Ahmad and Director General Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Secretariat Sohail Malik were also present.

A briefing followed up on prior briefings held in October 2021 and in February 2022. The Rector gave a summary of the actions taken in response to prior briefing decisions, progress on past briefings, updates on academic activities, future plans, research partnerships, and other relevant institute operations.

Prof Khalid stated that the Chancellor was informed about curriculum revisions, new faculty hiring, academic courses and labs, and other significant actions such as digital transformation.
