What is GMAT, and what is it for?
The Graduate Management Admission Test, or GMAT, is a standardized testing system for business school applications. It is a requirement for graduate business programs (MBA) all over the world.
What does GMAT test you on?
GMAT is, first and foremost, a test of your critical thinking skills. You are being tested on how to reason and analyzing information.
GMAT is broken down into four sections.
Analytical Writing Assessment is also the essay section. You are given an argument which you are expected to reason with and explain, using the author’s argument. You are not asked to present a new stance or give your personal opinion about the brief.
The Integrated Reasoning section has questions such as multi-source reasoning, graphic interpretation and table analyses.
The Quantitative section tests your basic mathematical concepts, such as arithmetic, geometry and algebra.
The Verbal section measures your ability to understand and write English by testing your argumentative and analytical vocabulary. There are 3 types of questions: critical reasoning, sentence correction and reading comprehension.
Why should you take the GMAT?
You should take the GMAT if you’re planning to apply to business schools. Business schools look at GMAT scores out of 800, and pick students that are the best of the best.
What are the restrictions for GMAT?
You must be 18 years and older to give the GMAT. There is no age restriction after that. You must have a qualified bachelor’s degree. You can retake the GMAT 16 days after your initial test, but can only take it 5 times in a year.
What scores should you get in the GMAT?
You need to score at least 715 out of 800 in GMAT to be considered for good programs.
How much does it cost to take the GMAT?
It costs $250, which is PKR 39, 906 for both the test and sending the scores to five different choosing programs.
