Step by Step Process to Apply in Hungarian Universities

Beautiful landscapes, incredible infrastructure, iconic multi-cultural environment and quality yet affordable education make Hungary one of the most popular destinations for students from all around the world.

What makes it iconic is its diverse culture as students from Romania, Slovakia, France, Spain, Italy and Turkey are predominantly drawn to Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in Hungary.

You can be that lucky person to have ended up in the same class with students from Mongolia, Ecuador, or Turkey once you apply to a university in Hungary. So, if you want to experience higher education ‘the Hungarian way’, Campus Guru is here to guide you through the university application process.

1. Find a Hungarian university

There are a number of universities in Hungary that are ranked on top 500 in QS Global Rankings and other Rankings in the world. Some of the top universities in Hungary are:

University of Pécs

University of Szeged

University of Miskolc

International Business School

2. Learn where to submit your university application

Similar to Germany and other European unified application for respective countries such as DAAD.de, Hungary doesn’t use any application system.  This means that you will have to apply directly through the university online application portal available on their website.

The method typically includes submitting an online application (and, in some cases, even uploading documents online). You might also be required to send your documents — originals or copies — by post. Make sure they are translated and legalised!

3. Entry requirements

Admission requirement varies from one university to another, but there are some of the most common university application requirements in Hungary:

high-school or Bachelor’s diploma

transcript of records (translated into English)

copies of diplomas (translated into English)

letter of motivation

copy of personal ID or passport

academic reference letter(s)

up-to-date CV

an online interview (on Skype, Zoom)

It is possible that Hungarian universities ask for additional documents depending on the program you have chosen.

4. Language requirements

Students whose native language is not English will be asked to provide official evidence of your current English language level for an English-taught degree.

The evidence can be provided by taking one of the following international English tests, and each Hungarian university sets the minimum scores for admission:

PTE Academic

IELTS Academic

TOEFL iBT

5. Application deadlines

We encourage Pakistani students to keep an eye on the application dates and other important deadlines on the official university websites. Generally, there are two application periods or rounds:

For the autumn intake: apply before June

For the spring intake: apply before November

6. Final steps after receiving your acceptance letter
