Complete Guide for CSS Exam

What is CSS?
Central Superior Service exam which is commonly known as CSS Exam is conducted every year in February for the recruitment of candidates for vacant positions for civil services, for the posts of BS-17 in different departments. It is conducted by Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) in Pakistan. There are three chances given to the candidates to appear in the CSS exam if the candidate fails to clear in the first attempt.

Eligibility Criteria:
Only the citizens of Pakistan and permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir are eligible to appear for this exam.

These citizens must be from age 21-30 years. A two year relaxation is also given resulting in maximum age of 32, only to those who have already served two years in government service.

The candidates must have passed with 2nd division in bachelor’s degree or equivalent which is 70%.Candidates who does not have a degree in the second division can only take the exam if they received a high division during their master’s degree.

Compulsory subjects' passing marks are 40%:

    English Essay
    English (Precis and Composition)
    General Science & Ability.
    Current Affairs.
    Pakistan Affairs.
    Islamic Studies or compulsory subjects for major religions.

Application process:
The announcement of the date of CSS exam is made every year in September

An application fee has be to paid in the bank and a receipt will be given to the candidate

The candidates must fill the application form available on the official website of FPSC

Download the form along with the required documents and the bank receipt and post it to the FPSC headquarters, Islamabad.
